How do I make a donate?

To donate to a project, just click the teal “Donate” button on any project page. You will be asked to enter your donate amount and select a reward. From there, you will go through the WePay checkout process. Note that you must finish the WePay checkout process for your donate to be recorded.

Do I have to have a WePay account in order to donate on Jewcer?

No, you do not have to have a WePay account but it makes things easier! (WePay is free to sign up for, to sign up, click here. If you still rather just pay with a credit / debit card, choose “Pay with a credit or debit card” on the WePay page. Jewcer uses WePay for all the transactions (even if you're not using a WePay account).

When I make a donate, when do I get charged?

You will get charged only when the project you donated to was successfully funded. A project is declared funded if it reaches its monetary goal by the deadline set forth at the beginning of the campaign by the project manager. So when a project succeeds, you will see the charge soon after its deadline. In case the project does not succeed, you will not get charged at all since Jewcer is an all-or-nothing funding platform.

If funding does not succeed do jewcers (funders) pay anything?

Absolutely not. If funding does not succeed you will not get charged.

What happens if my credit card is declined?

If your credit card is declined Jewcer will receive a notification from WePay and will make sure to let you know about it, so you can try donating again.

Is my donate amount publicly displayed?

If you choose so, yes! Be proud of your donate to a Jewcer project. You are helping our community become stronger and more connected.

Can I donate anonymously?

Yes, funders (jewcers) can choose to make their identity and/or amount of their donate anonymous. However, we encourage you to be proud of your donate to a Jewcer project, and share it with your friends! We value the people in the Jewcer community and hope you’ll connect with other jewcers.

When I make a donate, does the project innovator receive my information?

Project innovators can see all the public Jewcer information such as your name, the amount of your donate, and the reward you selected. If you chose to make the donate anonymous, the project innovator will not see your name.

Do I get notified if a project I’ve donated to succeeds?

Whether you’ve helped a project innovator meet their funding goal or a project unfortunately does not succeed, the Jewcer Team will let you know. We’ll send you an email to let you know when the funding has ended for each project to which you have donated.

Can I pay with a check? Send cash by mail?

At this time, Jewcer can only process payments through WePay, that can be done easily through a WePay account or using a debit or a credit card.

Can I cancel a donate?

By donating, you are committing to supporting a project; canceling that commitment is discouraged. However, you may cancel your donate at any time prior to the project's deadline.

Is my donate tax deductible?

No, not at this time.

Can people from outside the U.S. donate to projects?

Yes! Anyone, anywhere (with a major credit card and/or WePay account) can donate to Jewcer projects.

I donated to my own project from a different WePay account, and now my WePay account is canceled. What happened?

CAUTION!!! Don’t try to fund your own project!!! Credit card regulations prevent project innovators from funding his/her own project. Any donate made by a project innovator to his/her project may cause WePay to cancel their WePay account, making it impossible to receive or withdraw funds.

While WePay prevents project innovators from backing their own projects from the same WePay account, WePay can also detect if the project innovator uses a new WePay account to make the donate. WePay looks for the credit card information as well as other primary information to determine if a person is attempting to pay him/herself. This policy is not unique to WePay but this type of transaction is considered an attempt to create a cash advance and is forbidden by all credit card companies.

Please note that WePay may not detect this action until a project succeeds and the project innovator attempts to collect funds. While the project will appear to succeed on Jewcer, WePay will later suspend any accounts linked to the project innovator, making it impossible to receive/withdraw funds.
