Hammer Update for 2014
On Dec 30, 2014Merry Xmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa and Happy New Year!
I am sorry I have not been in touch more frequently -- you'll understand shortly why. However, I wanted to fill everyone in regarding the project.
This year, because of your help, we cast the majority of the parts in the film in order to "package" it for financiers. In smaller roles we cast: Richard Kind, Jon Glaser, Jeff Ross, Giancarlo Esposito, Maz Jobrani, Fran Kranz, Kevin McDonald, and Dave Foley.
We also cast the two new leads who will be playing opposite of Adam Goldberg and Judy Greer.
Drum roll ...
Fred Armisen came on board to play Hitler!
And to play the second lead of the film, Mohammad Ali Paula Abdul Rahim, we cast the brilliant Tracy Morgan.
After casting Tracy and Fred, we began the process of speaking to a number of interested financiers. And then tragedy struck.
In June, Tracy was involved in an automobile accident which I am sure many of you have already heard about.
We have been in contact with Tracy's representatives over the past few months, and it is with sadness that we recently learned that Tracy will be unable to star in the film at this time due to ongoing health issues.
We will be recasting first thing in the New Year. After which, we will go back to the interested financing parties.
I wanted to thank everyone for your patience with the project. I still very much am doing everything in my power to make it happen.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tracy and his family, and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Happy Jew Year (Update)!!!
On Jan 22, 2014I hope everyone had a healthy and happy New Year!
Exciting news on the Hammer V Hitler:
While I was in LA directing a new independent comedy (Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero), I brought on two producers two lead the charge in my absence. Jason Taragan (Paul Blart Mall Cop) and Bill Straus. Jason and Bill have been kicking ass for us, and I am happy to announce an even newer addition to our team: casting directors Paul Schnee and Kerry Barden. This year alone, Paul and Kerry cast August: Osage County, The Dallas Buyers Club, and Prisoners!!! They start working on casting the movie next week. Very excited, and thanks again for making all of this a reality.
March 7, 2013 - Update
On Mar 07, 2013Hello from Hammer HQ! I wanted to keep everyone update as to where we're at. Since the campaign ended, I paid to have had the film budgeted and scheduled. We've got a good plan set!
Additionally, I've hired one of the best Independent film lawyers in the business, and he has been negotiating all of the finer points of the longform rights contract with ContentFilm (rights holders) so we can get the party started right and quickly. This is the least fun part so far ... slow going, but the good news is that it's moving forward smoothly!
In the meantime, there are a number of interested financiers we have spoken to who are waiting patiently as well and the script has been rewritten to be even bigger, badder, and better.
Thanks for your patience -- as soon as the fun pre-production stuff begins that doesn't involve lawyers (zzzzz), I'll start posting video diaries/updates.
Shabbat Shalom, Motherfuckers!!!
ch'appy ch'appy, joy joy.
Great news! Mazel tov!
Let this be real!!! <3Andrea
oh yeah baby!!!
This is it!
On Jan 28, 2013Today is the final day of the campaign. Thanks to you, we made our goal of 50K!!! Because of you and the media attention, we are now actively talking to interested investors. This will be the year of the hammer, and it would not have been possible without your help! If you have not shared this campaign yet, today is the day to do it!
I will periodically update the site with news, announcements, and fun videos as the financing comes into place all the way through the release of the film. I am looking forward to making the movie with you.
Shabbat Shalom, Mf'ers!!'

We So Close!!!
On Jan 24, 2013Happy Thursday, all from Hammer HQ!
We have 4 days left and are at $47, 400!
Not too shabby for a yet-to-be-shot movie about a time travelling Certified Circumcised Dick, his Kwanzaa protecting Brother-In-Arms, and a vile German man with a funny moustache.
So close, but I still need your help to cross the finish line. If you could reach out and get your friends to contribute and support us we will make it across that virtual finish line in the sky!
If you have some free time today and would like to watch yet another video of my mom, here's a conversation I played for folks at the Fundraiser.

One Week Left!
On Jan 21, 2013We are 7 days away from closing out the campaign. Because of you we are much closer to getting the film made. I have spoken to a few very interested investors in LA. I also spoke to a German producer in Hamburg who wants to bring this kind of Jewish comedy back to Germany as a co-production. We’ve spoken to a group in Canada and another one this week.
All of this would not have been possible without Crowdfunding. It was always nearly impossible to get an independent film made, but since the recession it’s become even more so impossible. Pretty much all of the independent arms of the studios have shut down and money has dried up. How media is made and distributed has been turned upside down by the internet -- first in the music industry, and now in film -- without crowdfunding and all the attention the film got because of it, I’d still be hearing no after no after no. This is really a case of people who like movies - fans making this happen.
However, we are still $5,000 away from the $50K needed to get the money. So, please, please, please, share the Jewcer link with friends and family you think might get behind the movie, and post it to your walls, twitters, and any other social networks you think are appropriate.
Here is to the year of The Hammer.

My Mother Wants You to Pledge
On Jan 16, 2013So, as you probably are aware, I am in the final few weeks of the campaign. I am making a final push to get this made. The script is honestly the best comedy I’ve ever written, Adam Goldberg is back as the Hammer, as is Judy Greer, and I aim to make one of the funniest movies of next year.
The press has been great to us as well. The campaign has been featured in Salon.com, the LA Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly, and many others in the states. In Israel, we have been featured nationally on both television and print.
However, I still need your help to spread the word. I have raised a little over $40K, but I am still $10K short of the $50K I need to raise by January 28th. We're so close!
I hate being in a position where I virtually panhandle, so to make my case...here is my own mother. Please make her love me!!!

On Jan 02, 2013Hello All -
Happy Jew Year!!!
We wanted to give you an update as to how the campaign is progressing and also thank you for your support so far.
Thank you for your support so far!
Special thanks to Michael Greenzeiger, who recently contributed $1,500 for the Nazi or Jew Reward. He's going to be on set in NY, and appear in the film as an extra!
Currently, we're hovering at around $40K, which is about $10K less than we need at the BARE MINIMUM to keep any of the funds that you have so generously pledged thus far. Of course, we're still shooting for that $200K goal : ) So, we have a ways to go.
"I've already given my hard-earned money," you're thinking. "What else can I do?" Well, here's exactly what you can do: spread the word!
Email your aunt Esther. Call your mother. (Call her already. Would it kill you?) Facebook message your old college roommate. Facebook message everybody you went to college with! Tweet at that crazy ex-girlfriend you haven't spoken to on the advice of your lawyer who's told you not to make contact under any circumstances, ever since "the incident"...
Actually, don't do that. But, DO reach deep into your network of fabulous friends and family, and let them know The Hebrew Hammer needs their help. Tell people our story...
We wish you all a wonderful New Year - Happy 2013! - and leave you with a special message from Josh Cooke from Dexter.
Hey Jonathan, i am a jewish guy from germany - yeah, there are still some left :) - and absolutely loved the hebrew hammer. I was actually searching the web for a "Shabbat Shalom, motherfuckers!" Shirt and was surprised that i couldnt find it or much of HH merchandising anyway. The only thing i found was a Jewish Justice League T-Shirt, pretty cool, but still missing this brooklyn funky flair of the hammer itself. So i somehow came along this page and i thought whats better then asking you directly. Why is there no or not much merchandising about the HH out there. Not, that i would expect you to get alot out of it from europe, but i am pretty sure it would raise some kind of cash you certainly could use for the next movie. I am pretty sure you thought about that already and could give me an answer. Or maybe there is simply no market for that stuff in europe so i cant really get a real impression what out there... anyway, i hope and wish you will succeed and i am totally looking forward to see HH2! Good luck from germany and all the best to you! Dani
